Information for Parents

Parents can help children develop healthy relationships. Sometimes it can be difficult to begin talking to your child about dating relationships. You cannot allow your fear to keep you silent. Messages surround people about how a relationship should look, the vast majority of these messages are not positive. They need to hear from you. Then once the conversation is started you want to continue the conversation.

Child sexual abuse is the exploitation of a child for sexual gratification of the adult, rape, incest, or touching are all considered child sexual abuse. There are several myths concerning incest and child molestation. Possilbe indicators of sexual abuse should be monitored and if abuse is suspected should be reported to Department of Human Services.
